About

Self improvement through positive thinking. This is the mission statement of Cognicology which is a collective identity for Alborz Fallah and Chris Duran – two guys who wish to share the lessons and ideas they have gained through their young yet successful careers. Chris and Alborz don’t run Cognicology, they are Cognicology.

Perhaps the best way to introduce Cognicology is to give the history of its inception.

Chris and Alborz, together with Nick Schoonens, created a web design studio – dotZero – in 2004. This introduced both Alborz and Chris to the world of business and was a lesson-packed experience for all involved. As the business moved along, both Chris and Alborz sold their shares in the business and went their separate ways to explore alternative avenues in their life journeys’.

Alborz built an online business following one of his great passions in life – motoring. In 2005(?) Alborz founded CarAdvice.com.au: one of Australia’s largest online motoring resources. CarAdvice.com.au has grown in leaps and bounds – recently launching BikeAdvice.com.au.

Chris moved to the UK for a few years to pursue a career in Computational Biology (Bioinformatics), working for the Medical Research Council in Oxfordshire. He returned to Australia in 2007 where he received a scholarship to undertake a PhD in the same field.

Throughout 2008, Alborz and Chris were in regular contact. They spoke often about the life journey they had both led over the last 5 years – both together and apart. A large amount of the conversation was taken up by reflections on the personal growth they had both experienced over the last few years. One thing that was apparent was that they had both achieved much. They had both also noticed that some of the people in their lives also had a great track record of achievement, whereas some people had made little or no progress in their lives – both professional and personal.

Why were some people successful, yet others were not?

They had an answer: Positivity.

The correlation in their peer group was hard to ignore: the successful people in their group had an unarguably stronger positive mental state then did their less successful and less motivated peers. It was such an obvious observation that, once noticed, stuck out like a sore thumb.

After much discussion over cafe meetings, much observation, much introspection and much reading, Alborz and Chris (Cognicology) have been able to identify the ideas and personal habits they (and those successful people around them) have developed over the last few years to keep themselves positive, driven and successful in all they set out to achieve.

Cognicology exists to share the techniques and personal habits that they have gained in the hope that you may also develop a positive and better you, for greater personal and professional success.

We really hope that you enjoy this resource, because building it has been a pleasure.

Chris and Alborz.
